Valif 10 mg is a renowned prescription medicine used to increase men’s sexual performance. It is also known as Vardenafil, a type 5 Phosphodiesterase (PDE-5). Drugs belonging to this category are widely used by men undergoing erectile dysfunction. The drug temporarily increases blood flow to the penis, thereby causing an erection.

Warning: When Should You Avoid Taking Valif 10 mg?
Valif 10 mg should be avoided in case your health could suffer from its use. In essence, avoid Vardenafil 10 mg in the following circumstances:
- If you are allergic to Levitra 10 mg
- Use of medicines that interact with Vardenafil
- Use of other PDE-5 inhibitors
- If you have NAION (non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy)
- If you have kidney or liver issues
Valif 10 mg (Vardenafil) is a potent PDE-5 inhibitor, stronger than other PDE-5 drugs. Therefore, it should be used with greater care to avoid life-threatening scenarios.
What Is the Mechanism of Action Behind Valif 10 mg?
The mechanism of action of Valif 10 mg is based on inhibiting a particular chemical. It is a PDE-5 inhibitor which inhibits cGMP. The cGMP inhibition leads to the accumulation of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. This way, the penis gets an ample flow of blood, which makes it erect. It is to be noted that this process requires sexual stimulation to function.
Keep these valuable tips in mind while taking Valif 10 mg:
- Use the tablets with a gap of 24 hours in between doses.
- Be open to your partner about the usage (and side effects) of this drug in case of emergency.
- You should keep your water intake high to get rid of drug side effects quickly.
- Although it can be taken with or without food, you should eat light food items before or after taking the medicine.

Certain drugs like Levitra 10 mg interact with other medications, resulting in unforeseen circumstances. Sometimes, they cancel each other's effects. Other times, they increase side effects and symptoms. This could even lead to the patient's demise. To avoid such cases, knowledge of the interaction of the drug is needed. Valif 10 mg interacts with the following medicines:
- Riociguat (Severe): Interaction leads to low blood pressure.
- Nitrates (Severe): Interaction causes blood pressure issues.
- Ritonavir (Severe): Interaction blocks the breakdown of Vardenafil by blocking liver enzymes.
- Antihypertensives (Moderate): Interaction increases Atenolol activity and may risk QTC prolongation.
- Efavirenz (Severe): Interaction causes an increase in QTC levels and decreases Vardenafil metabolism.
- Amiodarone (Severe): Interaction causes an increase in QT interval.
- Indinavir (Severe): Interaction lowers Indinavir levels in the blood with congruent usage of Valif 10 mg.
- Itraconazole (Severe): Interaction blocks liver enzymes and affects BP, heart rate, and QT intervals.
- Procainamide (Severe): Not recommended to be used with the drug.
- Quinidine (Severe): Not recommended to be used with the drug.
- Clarithromycin (Severe): Interaction increases the serum quantity of Vardenafil in blood, making it difficult to remove from the body.
- Ketoconazole (Severe): Interaction causes drug levels to go up, increasing side effects.
- HIV and Hepatitis drugs (Severe): Interaction increases side effects and lowers blood pressure.
Avoid Combined Use with Other ED Drugs
You must avoid the combined use of Valif 10 mg with other ED drugs or PDE-5 inhibitors. Each ED medication should be taken with a gap of at least 24 hours between the respective doses.
Generic Vardenafil 10 mg interacts with other ED drugs to cause hypotension (severe blood pressure drop). The condition can even lead to a patient’s death. Avoid Levitra 10 mg use with the following drugs:
- Sildenafil (Viagra)
- Avanafil (Spedra)
- Tadalafil (Cialis)
Although Valif 10 mg tablets can be taken with water and meals, some exceptions exist. Certain food items and drinks can interact with Vardenafil 10 mg, causing severe issues or canceling its effects. In such cases, it's best to avoid such food items. Some of them and their interaction is discussed here for your ease:
Vardenafil 10 mg with fatty foods
Fatty foods disrupt the working mechanism of Vardenafil. Fatty foods reduce Cmax absorption by 18%, which slows down the working and absorption of Vardenafil. Therefore, fatty foods like meat, cheese, milk, tea, eggs, nuts, olive oil, butter, and even dark chocolate should be avoided.
Vardenafil 10 mg with alcohol
Alcohol consumption is allowed to some extent with Vardenafil. In essence, if you are taking Valif 10 mg, you should ideally not be having alcohol at all. Even if you do use alcohol, it should not be more than two shots in total.
Alcohol causes an increase in Vardenafil side effects. Thus, if a person is consuming too much alcohol, they are prone to serious side effects. The person could even potentially lose their life, unfortunately.
Vardenafil 10 mg with grapefruit juice
Grapefruit and its juice do not go well with liver enzymes (CYP3A4). In essence, liver enzymes are essential in breaking down Vardenafil for absorption. However, grapefruit juice blocks CYP3A4, thus blocking the breakdown of Vardenafil.
Since the PDE-5 inhibitor isn't absorbed in this scenario, it fails to provide any benefit. Thus, the drug is rendered useless and a waste of time and money as well.
